Houseplants are favorite additions to many homes because it is an easy way to bring nature to the room and brighten up a personâs mood. But some houseplants like air plants and succulents are more favorable than the others. And here are the top 4 reasons why you should have air plants in your house.
You might be surprised to learn that air plants do not need any soil to thrive. The structure of their leaves allows air plants to absorb water and nutrients from the air. All they need is an occasional light misting of water or a short soak in a bowl of water.
Air plants are colorful, easy to care for and exotic. Their nature allows them to thrive in no-soil condition with some good spitz of water. A simple air plant decoration can freshen up one's mood and living space, which makes them an excellent gift choice for your loved ones, even ones without green thumbs.
When it comes to home decor trends, air plants are at the top of the list. You can display them in a glass globe, mini concrete pot or wooden cholla. They would make stunning displays in your living room or any workplace.
Did we mention that air plants are 100% non-toxic to dog and cat? Tillandsia plants do not contain any harmful chemicals to pets. So if your cats are a little too fond of nibbling on your air plant leaves, they should be fine!

Air plants are among the most easy-to-care-for houseplants. Here are some key reminders on how you should care for your air plants.
Combine misting and soaking for the best result. When watering, completely drench your air plants in water for 20-30 minutes. Do this 1-2 times per week. If you live in a dry, hot climate, mist them a couples of times in between.
Air plants grow best in bright indirect or filtered light April through October. Early morning or later evening direct sun is OK in mild environments. They can typically handle more direct sun November through March.
Air plants can be kept outdoors year round if protected from frost. They are not frost-hardy and should be brought inside when it is below 40F. Optimum temperature range for air plants to thrive is between 50 and 90 degrees F.
Air plants can survive without fertilizer, though a plant benefiting from a fertilizer regimen will grow, bloom, and produce offsets (pups) more vigorously. A Bromeliad or Tillandsia fertilizer should be used 2 times per month at ¼ strength.
