I went many years without knowing the beauty of cast iron, but now that I've seen the light, I'm having trouble finding the space to put them all. I have other enameled cast iron pots from Lodge as well as Misen and Le Creuset. All of them, including this one, seem to perform at the same level when it comes to cooking.There are some differences, like the Lodge, Misen and Le Creuset have a max temperature of 500F, while AmazonBasics models max out at 400F (as of this review the max temp for this model is not shown).The quality of the enamel coating is important, and if you trust the advertising (I wouldn't), Misen claims to have a better, stronger coating than the Le Creuset costing three times as much. The problem with shopping based on the coating is... well, you can't really know what's best. You can look inside, check for an orange peel texture that suggests that it was applied with less care, but I haven't really seen that in any of the models I mentioned. Other than that, you're basically looking to see how easily the coatings are damaged, and if you're anything like me, you'll never let that happen anyway.There was one thing that I noticed with this model that concerned me when I was washing it out -- there is an area on the bottom of the pot (on the inside), taking up about half the surface area, where water runs off differently. Kind of like the difference between water running off of a recently waxed car versus an unwaxed car. Part of the inside beads, and part of it doesn't. The pot is still pretty new, so I don't know if this is just something that changes with use and it will eventually even out, or if there's something wrong with the finish.
